See Yourself in Cyber During Cyber Security Awareness Month

Today we are connected to our smartphones or a computer wherever we go, and because of that our world is becoming increasingly dependent on cybersecurity. Marion Technical College is proud to be a part of national Cybersecurity Awareness Month to help us all understand the latest ways to protect ourselves and our friends and families online.

You can greatly increase your cybersecurity online, at work, and at home by taking a few simple steps:

  • Think Before You Click
  • Recognize and Report Phishing
  • Update Your Software
  • Use Strong Passwords
  • Enable Multi-Factor Authentication.
Learn more about these cyber basics through a wide variety of activities and learning opportunities planned for Cybersecurity Awareness Month. The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has tips. Learn more here.

“Cybersecurity is critical to protect our identities, our financial information, our businesses, and our private lives,” said Mike White, Associate Dean of Technical Programs at Marion Technical College. “Together, we can invest a little time to make our information safer online.”

In addition to the cisa.gov website, classes on digital literacy are available for free through the Community Skills Initiative. Complete classes from now through Nov. 16 to earn points. A total of $10,000 in prizes will be awarded to teams and individuals. Register for free here.

For those who want to work to protect others from cyber crimes, cyber security and networking program is available from Marion Tech. Learn more here.
