Yesterday afternoon K9 Viking was called in to attempt to locate a suspect that stole a vehicle and crashed it into a cornfield in the area of Newmans Cardington Rd and SR423. The suspect had driven through several yards before crashing and fleeing on foot. Several hours later dispatch started receiving calls from residents in this area with sightings of the suspect.
One caller advised the suspect was on his porch and fled to a tree line behind his house. Colin Boyd offered to assist Deputies by taking them back into the woods where he last saw the suspect as he is familiar with the wooded area and had a vehicle capable of navigating through the woods. Using an off road vehicle provided by Colin, he took Deputies Corey Collins, John Endicott and K9 Viking into the woods to search for the suspect. Perimeter units located the suspect walking a tree line near the rail road tracks between Newmans Cardington Rd and Wolfinger Rd.
Due to Colin’s help he was quickly able to get us through the woods and close to the suspect. Deputy Collins, Endicott and K9 Viking were then able to apprehend the suspect. We would like to thank everyone who called to assist us with locating the suspect. A special thank you to Colin Boyd for his help as we would not have been able to cover as much ground as we did without his help! Viking also got the opportunity to make some new friends along the way.
