Marion Tech Offers Students Free Summer Tuition

School7

Marion Technical College issued the following announcement on Mar. 11.

(Marion) Stop the presses! Breaking news! Marion Technical College is investing in our students. All students, both current and new students, can register for summer classes with free tuition.

All students need to do to apply is to apply or register for classes by April 15 and complete the Free Application for Financial Aid (FAFSA). Free tuition will be awarded on a first-come, first serve basis until the funds run out.

“This is an exciting opportunity to help our students get ahead,” said Dr. Amy Adams, Vice President for Planning and Advancement. “Marion Tech is already affordable, but this removes another barrier for students to get closer to their goals.”

Marion Tech offers a 12-week summer session starting in May 16 and an 8-week session starting June 6. More than 100 courses are being offered on a variety of topics and formats, from online to in-person. Research shows that students who take summer classes have higher grades and are more likely to graduate

“This is a great way to knock out some required courses and get farther ahead,” Dr. Adams said. “With flexible options and small class sizes, there are many reasons to take advantage of this offer!”

Marion Tech is registering students for summer and fall classes now. To get started, go to mtc.edu and fill out an application or schedule an appointment with admissions. Future students are also invited to attend the March 29 Open Lab Night from 6 – 8 p.m. to meet faculty, see the labs and discuss in-demand careers. New and returning students can also come to the Enrollment Express on Tuesday, April 5 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Bryson Hall.

The free tuition is being funded with the college’s portion of the Higher Education Emergency Relief Funding (HEERF). Half of the funds went directly to current students to provide emergency relief.

“We think this is another innovative way to support our students from all backgrounds,” Dr. Adams said. ‘Whether you are a College Credit Plus student looking to get a jump-start on a pre-requisite class or a working parent looking to save money, this is a fantastic opportunity to move forward. Don’t let it pass you by!”

Marion Tech serves more than 2,500 students by providing a qualify, affordable, flexible, personalized education. For more information, contact Marion Tech at enroll@mtc.edu or call (740) 386-4140.
